Fair sized, 2-way, acoustic suspension speakers; with an 8" woofer, and a 1" soft dome tweeter. The HB1s were entry-level speakers, and though they worked well with budget equipment, they excelled when partnered with top-quality electronics. They really are a different speaker, just HB1 themed, like a cover band. I owned the original HB1's and later the HB3's and they were both excellent.
